26-year-old Shameka Christon is a veteran on the W.N.B.A.’s youngest team and is one of only two players who were with the Liberty the last time it went to the conference finals, in 2004. She guaranteed herself another trip by making the 3-pointer with 1 minute 22 seconds left in Game 3 as the Liberty eliminated the Connecticut Sun, 66-62, Last Monday night.
And Now with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals in reach, there is no question who gets the ball.
Christon and team was headed to the “D” with a purpose to right past wrongs. Last year’s match up against the Detroit Shock delivered the Liberty a couple of disappointing lost where the Shock squeezed out two losses within three points “Just to be so close and fall short that’s like the worst that you have to think about for seven or eight months.”
But with their 4 point win in their first match up in the three game series, and the Sunday night lost 9 point lost to Detroit with the Final Game in the best-of-three series will decide it all.
With an average of 15.7 points a game during the regular season in addition to a string of clutch baskets throughout the year, Shameka Christon has delivered.
